DT Freedom - Basket Muzzle

Alternative Views:

DT Freedom is our most spacious wire basket muzzle, allowing dogs to be able to open their mouths to pant and drink water. Like all Dean & Tyler muzzles, our DT Freedom is padded with natural, heavy felt along the snout area.

This muzzle is designed to stay secured with only one head strap, so long as it is a proper fit. If the muzzle is able to be removed, this is indicative of either the strap needing adjustment and / or the basket being too large.

Wire basket muzzles are intended to be used under supervision and in a controlled environment, as any dog in a wire muzzle will effectively be able to exert some force behind it when stimulated. While our Production Team takes care to ensure any small points or spikes that might be leftover from the construction process are removed, there may likely still be rough points on the outside of the basket, where the metal wire is fused together due to the nature of the material ends in themselves. If a person comes into close proximity with a pup, this can possibly lead to abrasions or contusions in instances where a person is at the receiving end of the wire basket muzzle on an excitable dog. In instances where the dog may be around glass doors or windows, the glass might possibly be scratched or in some cases broken upon impact. Similarly, a dog wearing a wire basket muzzle might scratch other materials upon contact (cabinets, doors, walls, furniture, etc.). If circumstances require that a softer muzzle be used in order to minimize the potential of harm from physical contact, we would recommend a Leather Basket Muzzle as these offer much of the same security with a softer, but still durable material. Alternatively, we also offer a rubber-coated wire basket muzzle in the DT Freedom design, our DT Freedom Winter. While the wire basket is coated with rubber to provide a softer material for contact, we still want to caution that the rigidity of the wire basket will allow for potential damage if the basket were to make contact with enough force in the way of bruising (for human contact) or breakage of glass from impact.

Stated breed classifications are generalizations for reference and NOT the rule. To ensure a properly fitted, DT Freedom muzzle please see our How to Measure diagram below and cross-reference measurements with the sizing chart (also below). For DT Freedom sizing assistance, you will need Snout Circumference, Length, Height & Width measurements.

For sizing help, please send your dog's measurements, photos of your dog (snout and full body), best estimate of your dog's age, weight, sex, and breed to support@deantylerproducts.com.
PLEASE NOTE:
these muzzles are intended to allow your dog to pant freely, NOT fully, as a free pant is sufficient for comfort and safety at both rest and play. Dean & Tyler has seen a trend of customers taking measurements with a ball or toy in their dog’s mouth in order to mimic a full pant and size accordingly. Sizing recommendations given based on these measurements will likely be much too large and may compromise the security of the muzzle by resulting in a fit which might warrant additional straps in order to prevent removal. Our muzzles are designed to remain securely in place, without the need for additional straps or attachment of the included strap(s) to your dog's collar, when sized correctly and properly adjusted. For this reason, we strongly advise against measuring your dog with any object in their mouth as it will result in inaccurate figures and quite possibly a hazardous size recommendation. Dean & Tyler DOES NOT ADVOCATE attempting to size for a full pant, nor will we be able to assist in doing so. Dean & Tyler cannot be held liable for any harm, injury or damage which may result from improper usage of our products.

Fabulous muzzle! Got the size 27 for my GSD mix, and at first I was iffy because the length was a bit small, but then I called customer service, and they recommended bending the legs, and it fits a lot better! Always getting compliments of how the muzzle looks on my boy, and I just love how he can pant fully, and feel a lot safer!

5 of 5 High Quality Muzzle March 28, 2018
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Lakewood, WA United States
Recently, my 2-year-old golden retriever has gained an affinity for eating rocks.  After a costly surgery, I needed to find something that would prevent this. I went through several different basket muzzles, none of which fit properly and rubbed on the side of my dog's face. My vet recommended a Dean & Tyler muzzle. Dean & Tyler help determined the proper size and provided a list of muzzles they recommended for my specific needs. I chose the DT Freedom muzzle. It's lightweight, made of quality material and does not rub on his face excessively. He is also unable to slip the muzzle which I have experienced with other muzzles. The spacing between the bars is small enough to prevent him from eating rocks and it has enough space in the muzzle for him to pant and drink.  My only complaint is that if he pushes hard enough against the muzzle, it slides up and hits him in the eyes. It could also use a little more padding around the outer edge. I'm very happy with the product!
