At Dean & Tyler we believe dog collars should not only be functional, acting as a display for your pet's id & vet tags; they should also reflect the handler and pet's sense of style.

Dean & Tyler Style:

We would never put our Golden Retriever (Dean) or our Boxer (Tyler) in a 'fashion' collar with cartoonish nylon trim or stiff leather that is typical of the market today.  Our dogs prefer D&T's classic supple leather pieces with simple decoration that will develop a distressed vintage look overtime and retain durability.

Leather:   D&T leather collars undergo a combination tanning process from century-old tanneries in the Netherlands and UK; first they are tanned with a Chrome Salt solution to make the leather flexible and more resistant to heat and scratching, then it is Vegetable tanned to make it firmer and more water-resistant. 

Over the years, Dean & Tyler leather collars will become softer, not weaker and will develop a distressed vintage look.  Wax is brushed on the edges of D&T collars to prevent fraying, and give a smooth finish. Similarly, all stitching is made of waxed or neoprene thread. Customers should expect their D&T leather to last for at least a decade with the exception of extraordinary circumstances like constant chewing.

Nylon:   A few D&T collars are made of double-ply neoprene nylon. Nylon collars are available in many of the same designs as D&T leather collars.  D&T nylon collars are a perfect pair with D&T nylon harnesses.

Hardware:   Dean & Tyler collar buckles, rivets, and rings are made of solid brass or nickel, not just brass or nickel finishes like most products on the market.  D&T leather and nylon collars are embellished with many types of stones and metals to create unique designs.
